First, the “heart” of the product:
Our kantha swaddles are so much more than a swaddle. By the creation of these beautiful one-of-a-kind items, the makers are now employed in work that brings dignity and livelihood and a brighter future. It is providing the women a fare wage, support, childcare, and ongoing education. Often these women were victims of trafficking and were at risk of, or are leaving, sex work. The swaddles are stitched in 12-hours by hand (on average) and signify a new beginning. Kantha swaddles can also be used as a light blanket, nursing cover or swaddle.

Kantha swaddles are two layers of vintage saris, carefully hand-stitched together by women in Bangladesh using a traditional kantha stitch. Read more about “kantha” here.

All swaddles are made of 100% reclaimed cotton sari cloth.

Swaddles are approximately one quarter of a sari size: 1 m X 1 m (3’4” X 3’4”) or half the size of our throw blankets.
